About Me

Hi! My name is Andrea Simanson, the Ezine and Website Editor at Successful Family Chores.

I'm an energetic, mid-life motivated wife and mother of three.
I love to balance life between home and work, spend time with my husband and children, work as a legal assistant, and enjoy managing the Successful Family Chores website. I am a networker who enjoys linking people to great resources and information that will help them succeed in life.

My husband, children and I live in Pullman, Washington, home of the Washington State University Cougars. Go Cougs!

My education and work experience include a B.A. in Business Education, several years of teaching Office Occupations at the secondary level, five years' experience as a legal secretary, and fifteen years' experience as an administrative assistant. I worked for four years as an administrative assistant at our children's private Christian school, and I loved the benefits of working close to our kids. Last year, I made a job change back to legal work, which I am thoroughly enjoying. I work for a state university now, which is quite different from private legal work.

Ty and I have been married 18 years and we have three children: Kara (15), Jamie (13), and Andy (7). During the school year, we're very busy with kid involvements, but during the summer, Ty and I play coed softball together. We also like to watch professional baseball together on TV. We enjoyed an Eastern Caribbean Cruise with three other couples in the fall of 2005. Our kids inform us that a conditional of our next trip will be to bring them along.

How did Successful Family Chores get started?

In August of 2003, I ruptured my achilles tendon playing softball and was on my back for a month. During this time, I couldn't do much, so my family had to step up and keep the house clean. Ah, a benefit to injury! I started writing and joined with Howard and Beezie Davis in the creation of Successful Family Chores - putting fun and energy into everyday tasks! I publish the bi-monthly newsletter that includes free chore tips, recipes, parenting articles, family fun ideas, and inspiration that motivates families to work together to accomplish goals. It's a free newsletter for anyone who wants to sign up. Click here to go to our newsletter sign up page.

At Successful Family Chores, I strive to provide good resources for parents and to share personal examples from my own life in order to help and inspire others in their journey as parents.
